TS Galaxy ready for Kaizer Chiefs

Today at 10am, our Diski Challenge side is pitted against the log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash of football.

After two games, we have collected three points while Amakhosi are at the summit of the log with six points.

TS Galaxy website sat down with our head coach, Phuphu Mohlaba to discuss the preparations ahead of today’s tussle.

TS Galaxy (TSG): How are the preparations for today’s game Phuphu?
Phuphu Mohlaba (PM): The preparation for Kaizer Chiefs have been going well. We still view this period as part of the process. It’s been interesting to see the boys grow in terms of understanding the tactical ideas that we are implementing. We really do see a lot of progress. The preparation has gone very well and look forward to see the team grows.

TSG: What positives can you take from our first two games?
PM: I think the positives beyond the points have been the performance. The players are showing a lot of understanding in terms of what it is that we are trying to achieve. I’m talking about how we want to play, the identity of the club and tactical demands of the game. That’s something that we’ve taken in to account especially the aspect of character. They are very difficult and to see them respond to that has been amazing.

TSG: Chiefs are at the summit of the log, what are the expectations of the game?
PM: Chiefs are looking confident. They look so sharp. Technically, they look good. We saw a bit of their game. It is quite exciting to see that. It is always good to see teams playing very well because it means when we play them, we can expect a very good game and very challenging game which is the biggest thing. Our focus is not on defeating them but it is to perform to be best of our capabilities and performance as close as we can to the standards that we’ve set ourselves.

TSG: What will make you happy come the end of the season?
PM: What will make us happy come the end of the season is if we having many of our players in the MDC team moving to the first team. We want to see them going on to become established players in the first team. That is absolutely first prize.
