Mashego confident of a good showing in Nedbank Cup opener

4 February 2020 – TS Galaxy left back, Terrence Mashego says he is confident that the club can do well and go on to defend their Nedbank Cup title. The Rockets kick off their title defence on Wednesday, 5 February with a mouthwatering clash against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The 19h30 kick off marks the officially starts this year’s edition of the Nedbank Cup which the Rockets historically lifted in May last year to the amazement of the whole country.

The club’s amazing Nedbank Cup run has unfortunately not been reciprocated in the club’s Glad Africa Championship campaign.

However, this has not dampened the spirits of the explosive left back who believes the club still has what it takes to make their supporters proud in the cup competition.

“We would like to see ourselves in the final again and making our supporters proud. Yes, looking at the league, we have not had the best of starts but anything is possible for a play off spot. Our position on the table isn’t really a true reflection of how we have been playing” said the 23-year-old.

“The focus for now is on us as the defending champions defending out title and we are looking forward to giving it our all starting from Wednesday” concluded Mashego.

The Rockets are coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss at home against Swallows FC in the Glad Africa Championship and will be looking at putting the loss behind them as they travel to the windy city.
