21 October 2019 – TS Galaxy displayed grit in a tough contest against JDR Stars on Sunday, 20 October in a tightly contested home fixture at the Kameelrivier Stadium.
Playing against fellow title contenders in a clash that had all the ingredients of a thrilling match, Galaxy had to come back from behind to salvage a draw after the visitors took an early lead.
The visitors took advantage of a lapse of concentration in the opening minutes of the first half when Thabang Sebanyoni headed the visitors into the lead from close range to the shock of the Galaxy fans in the 22nd minute.
The early goal proved to be a wake-up call for the hosts as they got into their traditional passing game in search of the equalizer.
With a stubborn JDR defense who parked the bus with the hope of frustrating the Rockets, Dan Malesela brought on some fresh legs with the introduction of Tshepo Chaine who found the winner against Swallows last week.
Galaxy continued surging forward with the backing of the crowd, but the Stars defense remained resolute with a famous win in sight for them.
The visitors eventually cracked under pressure in the 90th minute when Sizwe Mdlinzo levelled matters to salvage a point and keep the Rockets within reach of the log leaders.
The focus will immediately shift to Wednesdays’ away tie against Steenberg United before the Rockets jet off to Nigeria for their CAF Confederations Cup fixture against Enyimba.
