17 October 2019 – TS Galaxy got back to winning ways in the Glad Africa Championship in a tough midweek fixture against Moroka Swallows played at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday, 17 October.
A wonder strike by the hard working Bathusi Aubaas opened the scoring for the Rockets as early as the eighth minute. However, Galaxy’s joy was short lived when a lapse of concentration saw Swallows’ Sipho Sibiya levelling matters with a header just a few minutes later.
With the game evenly balanced, it was the Rockets who showed more intent of reclaiming the lead.
Tshegofatso Nyama came close to finding the second for the Rockets just before the half time break but his well taken long range effort was denied by Swallows keeper, Virgil Vries.
Coming back from the break, coach Dan Malesela introduced some fresh legs with the skillful Khayelihle Shozi making way for Tshepo Chaine in the 50th minute. Chaine repaid Malesela’s faith in him with an immediate impact that saw him finish from close range to reclaim the lead for the Rockets and make it 2-1.
With the lead and three points well in reach, Malesela’s charges soldiered on and braved the attacks of the relentless Swallows with a composed style of play that frustrated the hosts.
It ended 2-1 in favour of Galaxy which was a good confidence booster following last weekend’s narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Free State Stars.
The three points come at a vital time for the Rockets who are juggling a hectic schedule that sees them play catch up in the Glad Africa Championship following their impressive CAF Confederations Cup run.
Galaxy welcome the high riding JDR on Sunday, 20 October at the Kameelrivier Stadium in a 15h30 kick-off.
