TS Galaxy FC will appreciate nothing more than to wrap up the first round of their maiden National First Division (NFD) season on a high note when they host Uthongathi FC at Kameelrivier Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
Galaxy will be gunning for maximum points against the KwaZulu – Natal club, as they look to finish 2018 successfully and with enough momentum to pull into the second round of the season.
Galaxy got the 2018/19 season off to a shaky start, drawing twice and losing once in their opening three league fixtures under the guidance of their former coach Vusi Mkhatshwa.
With positive results hard to come by the club brought in former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela as Mkhatshwa’s replacement in early September.
While Galaxy’s performance looked to be improving under Malesela, positive results continued to elude the side as their winless run streched to five matches after playing out two consecutive draws.
The 53 years – old mentor eventually managed to guide The Rockets to their first – ever NFD victory, an emphatic 2 – 0 win over Witbank Spurs in front of the home crowd in late September.
With three wins, eight draws and three losses so far this year, Galaxy lie 10th on the log table with 17 points to their name.
The Mpumalanga side head into the clash against Uthongathi brimming with confidence following their 1 – 0 away win against TS Sporting last weekend.
The same can also be said of their 8th placed opponents who will be looking to continue where they left off when they defeated Jomo Cosmos 1 – 0 in their previous league outing.
The Rockets will go into the clash against the Cane Cutters without the trio of Snethemba Ngidi, Stanley Makgoka and Lithabo Mashifana who are recovering from hamstring, knee and groin injuries respectively.
