GALAXY GO DOWN TO TSHAKHUMA

TS Galaxy slipped to a first defeat of the season after a 1 – 0 loss to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The first half of the National First Division (NFD) encounter was a competitive affair, with both sides going at each other in search of the opening goal.

However, it was Tshakhuma who got on the score sheet first courtesy of Edward Manqele’s 18th minute header.

Galaxy attempted a come-back soon after conceding, which produced few clear – cut scoring chances, with a solid Tshakhuma defense not making things easy for the visitors.

Galaxy suffered a setback in the 51st minute as they had to continue without their captain Mfundo Phungwayo who was replaced by Sakhele Nhlabathi after sustaining an injury.

The Rockets looked more threatening after the introduction of Mxolisi Gumede who came in for Sizwe Mdlinzo in the 70th minute, as they piled more pressure on Tshakhuma in search of an equaliser.

Tshepo Chaine came close to leveling the score in the 81st minute however his effort from inside the box went wide.

Galaxy continued their relentless attacks in the dying minutes of the game, however none of them resulted in a goal, as Tshakhuma held on to their 1 – 0 lead to stretch the visitor’s winless run to three matches .

The Rockets will welcome Ubuntu Cape Town at Kameeelrivier Stadium on Sunday 16 September in their next league fixture.
