TS Galaxy Football Club officially unveiled their squad, technical team as well as their playing jersey for their debut National First Division (NFD) season at Kameelrivier Stadium in Kameelrivier near Siyabuswa earlier today.
Following more than a month of intense player assessments Galaxy new coach Vusi Mkhatshwa has assembled a squad brimming with youth and potential, with the likes of Mxolisi Gumede, Sizwe Mdindzo and Sakhele Nhlabathi among the players with NFD experience.
The former Witbank Spurs coach, who is assisted by Musi Ajao, has also drafted into his squad seven players who campaigned for the club in the ABC Motsepe League namely Seun Ndlovu, Sanele Barns, Thabang Setati, Hope Matloa, Siyabonga Khumalo, Macbeth Mahlangu and Tebogo Podile.
Mkhatshwa will be looking his right back Mfundo Khuzwayo to captain the Mpumalanga outfit to a successful maiden season.
Delivering the keynote address at the event Galaxy president Tim Sukazi expressed confidence in the newly assembled squad, saying he’s confident that the lads will hold their own in the second tier.
“These players have talent and I have no doubt in my mind that they’re going to take this team very far. I am confident that they’ll make us all proud, all we need to do is to support them” he says.
The club also unveiled a new home and away kit, retaining the side’s traditional red and navy blue colors.
The Rockets will square off against fellow NFD newcomers in Cape Umoya United in the opening match of the season at Kameelrivier Stadium on the 19th of this month.
